Plateau Attack: Assembly Speaker Urges Security Agencies to Arrest Killers

2 Min Read

The Speaker, Plateau House of Assembly, Abok Ayuba, has urged security agencies to track down those that killed 13 persons at Kumbel Village in Kunbum District of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau.

A statement by his Press Secretary, Bulus Atang, on Friday in Jos, quoted Ayuba as saying that the perpetrators of the dastardly act must face the full wrath of the law because the killings were unwarranted.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that gunmen on Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m. attacked the residents who had gone to bed, killing 13 of them.

The police detectives are on the trail of the killers. No reasons have been adduced for the attack.

Ayuba said: “I am very sad over the killing of innocent citizens in Mangu.

“I wish to call on security agencies to track down the perpetrators of the dastardly acts, to face the full wrath of the law.

“I wish to, however, commend the security personnel for their intervention. I implore them to be proactive and improve on their capacity to respond quickly to distress calls,” he said.

The speaker, on behalf of the principal officers, members and staff of the Assembly, commiserated with families of those who lost their loved ones.

He prayed for a speedy recovery of the injured and lauded the swift response of Gov. Simon Lalong in calming the situation.

He appealed to the government and other charitable Nigerians to offer support for the victims to aid their quick recovery from the tragedy.
