A 32-year-old suspected gunrunner, identified as Samuel Uche has been arrested by detectives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Lagos State Police Command.
The Herald gathered that the detectives arrested the suspect in Mafolukun area of Oshodi on Wednesday, January 8.
It was learnt that Uche was arrested while on his way to sell two automatic revolver pistols to a notorious armed robbery/kidnapping gang in the area.

The commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who confirmed the arrest during a press conference on Wednesday, said the “most wanted gunrunner was tracked and arrested based on credible information.”
Odumosu said the suspected gunrunner had been on the police wanted list for allegedly supplying various armed robbery gangs with arms with which they carried out attacks on innocent members of the public.
He stated that investigation into the suspect’s activities was ongoing and that he would be charged to court.
Earlier, The Herald reported that governors in the South-West geopolitical zone obtained the permission of police authorities to launch proposed security outfit, “Amotekun”.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu was said to have given his blessings on Wednesday when Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, met him at the Force Headquarters.
Adamu had previously met the six governors in the zone over the operations of the proposed security outfit, which is scheduled to be launched today, January 9 at the Oyo State Government House.
