Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze says he is not perturbed about missing out on winning the 2019 CAF Youth Player of the Year award.

The Villareal of Spain star and compatriot, Victor Osimhen were beaten to the prize by Moroccan youngster, Achraf Hakimi.

The 21-year-old Hakimi, who plays for Borussia Dortmund, picked up the prize for a second time at a ceremony held at Citadel Azure in Hurghada in Egypt on Tuesday.

Chukwueze was in terrific form for Villareal last season and an integral member of the Super Eagles squad that picked up bronze in the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

The 20-year-old placed ninth for the Kopa Trophy, which is the Ballon d’Or award for the best performing player under the age of 21.

But Chukwueze said he remained unbothered about not winning the CAF Youth prize but will continue working hard to improve his game.

“Better luck next time, I have already put the disappointment behind me.

“I have achieved a lot in 2019 but I need to do more.

“I am very grateful for all that happened in 2019 but I now need to focus on what I can achieve this year,” Chukwueze said.
