Cashless Toll-Payment Begins On Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge

2 Min Read

The Lagos State Government has commenced cashless policy for toll payments at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge plaza.

The Lekki Concession Company had earlier put out notice to users of the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, that starting from January 1st, 2020, cash payment will no longer be accepted at the toll gate.

Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic 0ladeinde, who personally monitored the cashless toll payments at the toll plaza along with the Managing Director, Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC), Yomi Omomuwasan said that  the new cashless policy was aimed at reducing the high level of traffic that was often experienced due to cash payments.

Oladeinde said: “I just want to appeal to Lagosians to embrace this new initiative introduced by this government as it would help us improve traffic movements along the corridor, any form of criminality or corrupt practices such as photocopying of payment vouchers or similar vices will not be condoned as such would be treated as a criminal case when caught’’

Oladeinde noted that no vehicle spent more than two seconds before they were electronically passed after showing their e-payment vouchers or other devices.

According to the commissioner, the only people who had delays were those who did not comply with any of the four cashless payment options as earlier stated.
