As we looking forward to 2020, we expect big things from WhatsApp in that year. A range of features will reportedly be making their way unto the Facebook-owned IM.
2019 saw Whatsapp implement the long-awaited call waiting function which is like the native call waiting function on your phone, alerting you of another caller if you are on one already while placing the other caller on waiting, and fingerprint unlock made the app more secure. Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram weren’t mashed up as earlier reported by several news agencies but the company did start to put the Facebook logo on the splash screen of the other apps
We begin with an obvious one;
Dark Mode
While it has played catch-up to other instant messaging apps in terms of implementing a dark theme, the Facebook-owned company has dropped enough hint to reassure its users that 2020 is the year for that feature with some users already beta-testing the feature.

Self-destructing messages
Another feature is self-destructing messages. The ability to send messages that will self-destruct after a set period of time, a day, a week, a month, a year maybe. The company has been working rigorously to bring that feature and we look forward to seeing it in 2020 as other social messaging apps have it implemented already.
Ads
At the 2019 Facebook Marketing Summit in the Netherlands, the company presented a slideshow demonstrating how it intends to work ads into WhatsApp. So, Ads are coming to Whatsapp in 2020. Something to look out for is the ability to run a whole store on Whatsapp.
No support for old phones
As iOS and Android develops keeping support for old phones which run on an old version of Android is becoming a daunting and uneconomical task for developers and tech companies alike. In that line of discussion, Whatsapp may be disabling support for holder phones in 2020. No official date has been announced but they’ve dangling that possibility in our faces for a while now.
Reverse image search
This is a feature that lets you reserve-search the original source of a picture even it has was sent in a group or broadcasted and WABetaInfo thinks the feature may drop in 2020.
This list is by no means exhaustive but these are the WhatsApp features we think users should get excited about ahead of the year 2020.
