Since the social media scandal that followed Donald Trump’s election tech giants and personalities have been debating a lot of topics in “misinformation”, “political ads” etc. Twitter’s against political ads, Facebook’s for it and the division goes on and now Spotify is going to pause political ads too.

Ad age noted that Spotify will be pausing political ads for the time being following the footsteps on Twitter. Spotify is pulling the plug on political ads just as rates are “jagging” up.
Techcrunch reports that;
Beginning in early 2020, Spotify will pause the selling of political advertising. This will include political advertising content in our ad-supported tier and in Spotify original and exclusive podcasts. At this point in time, we do not yet have the necessary level of robustness in our processes, systems and tools to responsibly validate and review this content. We will reassess this decision as we continue to evolve our capabilities.
Spotify didn’t comment on how much money it stands to lose since most of its revenue is generated from ads but a bold step it still is.
