The announced Microsoft’s Chromium-based Edge browser is coming to PC in January. The browser will seamlessly be installed as an update to the current Edge browser without any grand launch or buzz.

The update will only be available to everyone running Windows 10 1709 (Fall Creators Update, released late 2017) or newer.

Microsoft had announced that the Edge browser will run on a different update schedule than the official Windows 10 update. It will be delivered on a 6-weeks basis.

According to Techradar, Microsoft clarified: “Feature updates will be released on a 6-week cycle (approximately.) Security and compatibility updates will be shipped as needed.”

The new plan allows the tech giant to continually monitor the hailing browser and users will no longer have to wait on the twice a year splurges that used to be.

Microsoft further observed: “Most protocols that Microsoft Edge handles by default will be migrated to the next version of Microsoft Edge.” This way it ensures a seamless transition from one Edge to another.

It is worth mentioning that the new Edge will also ship with a new logo.
