Confusion as DSS rearrests, detains Omoyele Sowore, Olawale Bakare

2 Min Read

The Department of State Service (DSS) has rearrested and detained the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.

Sowore and Bakare were rearrested by operatives of the DSS on Friday, December 6, hours after they were released on bail on Thursday evening, December 5.

Earlier, The Herald reported that the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, ordered the service to release the duo within 24 hours.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu who gave the order, however, adjourned the trial over the failure of the prosecution to comply with her order of November 6 directing them to serve some documents on the defence counsel, Mr Femi Falana (SAN).

She then issued a cost of #100,0000 against the prosecution for sloppiness and imposing “frivolous adjournments” on the court.

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that a group of half-naked women on Thursday, December 5, protested in front of the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding the immediate release of the Convener, #RevolutionNow Protest, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.

The women, numbering about 30, were in white wrappers and bras with no clothes covering the upper parts of their bodies. They asked the Department of State Service (DSS) to release their son, Sowore.

It was learnt that they were from Sowore’s village, in Kiribo, Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state. The protesting women were not allowed entry into the court premises.
