Arsenal transfer rumours: The 20 most likely targets for Arsene Wenger this summer

6 Min Read

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has finally signed a new contract, so now transfer speculation can start gathering pace as to who he will bring in this summer.

At least one striker, a goalkeeper, a defensive midfielder and a right back will be on the shopping list.

So we take a look at the 20 players we think Arsenal are most likely to be considering bids for.

Karim Benzema – Real Madrid – Striker

The 26-year-old French star would cost around £40 million and is only likely to leave if Real Madrid bring in a big-name replacement, but Arsene Wenger is a huge fan and he is likely to be his dream signing.

Loic Remy – QPR – Striker

Available for around £8 million after impressing while on loan at Newcastle last season, the French 27-year-old seems a solid bet to end up at The Emirates, even if Arsenal sign a more high profile striker as well.

Lars Bender – Bayer Leverkusen – Midfielder

The defensive midfielder Arsene Wenger is thought to crave the most, Bender, 25, is a star of Germany’s illustrious midfield and could be interested in a move to a bigger club.

Julian Draxler – Midfielder/Striker – Schalke

His last season was hit by injuries but the 20-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest prospects, with Arsene Wenger reportedly interested in turning the German star into a striker.

Serge Aurier – Right back – Toulouse

The 21-year right back, who is heading to the World Cup with the Ivory Coast was in the team of the season in the French league.

Juanfran – Right back – Atletico Madrid

Arsenal are reported to have had a £9 million bid for the Spanish star, 29, turned down and could go back with a higher offer.

Nathaniel Clyne – Right back – Southampton

Arsenal have been linked with a move for fellow Saints right back Calum Chambers, but Clyne, 23, looks a more solid bet as he tends to be the first choice right back at Southampton and has just enjoyed an impressive season.

Atsuto Uchida – Right back – Schalke

The 26-year-old Japan star has impressed in the Bundesliga and would bring the added bonus of adding to Arsenal’s fan base in the Far East.

Stephan El Shaarawy – Striker – AC Milan

The 21-year-old has had a season hit by injuries but the Italian star is known to be admired at The Emirates and Milan may not be able to turn down a big bid.

John Ruddy – Norwich City – Goalkeeper

His reputation is in tact despite his team’s relegation from the Premier League and the 27-year-old England international would keep Wojciech Szczesny on his toes.

Alvaro Morata – Real Madrid – Stiker

The North London giants are reported to have been in talks over the 21-year-old Spanish prodigy and it seems likely one Real star could end up at Arsenal next season.

David Marshall – Cardiff City – Goalkeeper

The 29-year-old Scottish international had an outstanding season with the Welsh club and could be available for around £14 million.

Angel Di Maria – Real Madrid – Midfielder/Winger

Argentina’s exciting 26-year-old was man of the match in the Champions League final but is still being linked with a move away from Madrid this summer.

Alexis Sanchez – Barcelona – Stiker/Winger

The Chilean 25-year-old showed what he can do when he scored twice against England at Wembley last November, but it seems difficult to see Barca selling him this summer.

Mario Mandzukic – Bayern Munich – Striker

With Robert Lewandowski having arrived at Bayern it seems that the Croatian 28-year-old is now surplus to requirements but has also been linked with a host of other clubs including Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Paul Pogba – Juventus – Midfielder

The 21-year-old France international could be one of the stars of the World Cup and may want to move to the Premier League to prove why Manchester United were wrong to let him go.

Edin Dzeko – Manchester City – Striker

It seems unlikely that City would sell the Bosnian star, 28, but the prospect of being first choice striker could just convince him to push for a move.

Mattia De Sciglio – AC Milan – Right back

The Italian 21-year-old is an outstanding prospect and Milan may consider a bid of around £18 million which they could reinvest in other areas of their squad.

Asmir Begovic – Stoke City – Goalkeeper

The 26-year-old Bosnian international seems classy enough for a bigger club and would offer genuine competition for Wojciech Szczesny.

Wilfried Bony – Swansea – Striker

Ivory Coast’s 25-year-old star had an impressive first season in English football and he plays the style of football that would fit perfectly with Arsenal’s style.
