Hajiya Sadia Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has reiterated her commitment towards implementing the vision of the President to get a hundred million people in Nigeria out of poverty in 10 years.

Farouq, who said this in response to circulated news that the ministry had refused to approve payments for vendors in Lagos, Imo, Kogi and Benue states, according to Daily Trust reports, also stated that the Home Grown School Feeding Programme is one of the Federal Government’s top priorities.

The school feeding programme is one of the programs under the National Social Investment Programmes, NSIP including the Conditional Cash Transfer, the N-Power and the Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, GEEP.

Farouq said;

“Since my appointment as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, I have severally reaffirmed my commitment to delivering on the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift 100 million people in Nigeria out of poverty in 10 years. I am therefore very much aware of the importance of the Home Grown School Feeding Programme,” she said.

The media assistant to the Minister released a statement which disclosed that the of payment of vendors, in Lagos, Imo Benue and Kogi State was as a result of the internal processes and due diligence which was necessary before payment.
