How I escaped death on Tuesday night – Commissioner raises alarm

Oyo State Commissioner for Lands and Housing Mr. Abdu-Raheem Abiodun has given the testimony of how he escaped death.

Abiodun said it was only by luck that he escaped being shot by some yet to be identified gun men, who attacked his official vehicle, at his Olomi-Academy home on Tuesday night.

In the attack, two persons including his official driver, Mr. Lukman Fabayo and police orderly, Mr. Muritala Atanda, were not so lucky, as they were hit by the bullets.

While the driver died instantly, the police orderly was receiving treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Police Commissioner Shina Olukolu debunked the insinuations that the commissioner was the target of the attack and that the victims only fell into the trap of the criminal gangs operating on a motorcycle.

The CP said the command had launched a manhunt for the assailants and criminals who perpetrated the crime.

The victims were said to have been shot at close range by attackers, on a motorcycle, who waylaid them on their way to the state secretariat after dropping the commissioner at home.

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that Senator Dino Melaye had announce the death of his nephew who was shot yesterday, 16th November at his polling unit.

Dino Melaye confirmed this in a tweet on Sunday just few hours after the death of his nephew.

Olorunjuwon, after sustaining  gunshot wounds at Ayetoro ward 1 Unit 4, which was Dino Melaye’s Polling unit on Saturday was confirmed dead early hours of Sunday morning.

However, Dino Melaye won in the polls as he was victorious over his APC rival, Smart Adeyemi.
