Kogi election: Governor Yahaya Bello, wife go on their knees to thank God (photo)

Barely 48 hours after Yahaya Bello was reelected as Kogi state governor, the member of All Progressive Congress (APC) and his wife, Rashida have expressed their appreciation to God over their victory at the poll.

The Herald gathered that Bello and Rashida were spotted appreciating God  on their knees after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of last the Saturday November 16th governorship election in the state.

Bello polled a massive 406,222 votes to defeat his contestant, Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 189,704 votes to emerge second.

With the result, Bello has been re-elected for a second term in office. INEC’s Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garuba, said Bello had been declared winner, having scored the highest number of votes during the poll conducted on Saturday.

Umar said the total number of cancelled votes were 149,576 and that the margin of lead was 216,518.

Earlier, The Herald gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on his re-election in the Nov. 16 gubernatorial poll.

The President, in a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Monday, described the election and emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as “a race well run and a victory well won.”

He commended APC supporters for remaining steadfast and resolute even in the “face of isolated incidents of violence”.

President Buhari condoled with families and loved ones of those who lost their lives as a result of regrettable acts of violence by thugs doing the bidding of their political sponsors.
