Ox scores brace as Liverpool trashed Genk

2 Min Read

After being ruled out with injury for the most part of last season, Alex Oxalade Chamberlain opened his champions league this season with two well-taken goals against Genk. Liverpool, last season’s champions scored four on the night with Mane and Salah getting on the score sheet.

Liverpool manager speaking to BT Sport, Jurgen Klopp said,

“We saw that we have a lot to improve on and it was the same again tonight, but we’re getting results, which is good.

“The manager will tell us we have a lot of points to improve because we’ve got to get them right if we’re to get another good result at the weekend.”

“There were good moments. The start was brilliant, we were kind of fluent and asked them a lot of questions but then we started – I’m not sure why – to lose patience and some easy balls. But all four goals were brilliant and we had chances to score more. Job done.

“In the years before we would have drawn it, maybe even lost, but all’s OK.

“We’ve just had two away games that were both difficult for different reasons. I don’t know where we are now but I know where we need to be on Sunday.

“It’s a refreshed Tottenham. Of course the second they meet us they’re back on track. But we’re a different team to Red Star Belgrade, just like Tottenham are different to Genk.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goals were brilliant, and very important. We’re really pleased for him, it was a big step.”
