At least 27 children have been confirmed dead in a fire outbreak in Liberia.
The fire was said to have broken out at a building in which the koranic students were sleeping which was near their mosque, BBC News reports.
According to MSN, “The kids were learning the Koran when the fire broke out,” police spokesman Moses Carter said.
He added that the fire was caused by an electrical surge and that further investigations were ongoing, MSN reports.

Liberian President George Weah took to social media to send his condolences to the families of the victims and asked the nation to keep them in their prayers.
“My prayers go out to the families of the children that died last night in Paynesville City; as a result of a deadly fire that engulfed their school building. This is a tough time for the families of the victims and all of Liberia. Deepest condolences go out to the bereaved,” President Weah said on his official Twitter account.
