Following the announcement that President Muhammadu Buhari will be visiting Japan on Sunday, August 25th, Nnamdi Kanu has threatened that the proscribed group, Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) will attack the president.
According to him, he has given out the order to “disgrace and arrest” Buhari after which they should then hand him over to security forces in the country.
Kanu stated that the president has committed the crime of illegal mass murder as well as crimes against humanity against his kinsmen, starting from 2015 when he became the president.
He subsequently urged that IPOB members mobilize themselves in the country, and ensure that Buhari is taken into custody. Kanu added that the group was already prepared to face any legal battle concerning their actions in Japan.
President Buhari is expected to join other leaders at the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Yokohama, Japan.
The latest statement released by the IPOB convener is coming after its members attacked Nigeria’s former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu during a New Yam Festival that held in Germany. The politician had attended the event to felicitate with other south easterners. However, he had to flee the venue to save himself from what may have ended up as a mob attack.
