DJ Arafat dies after ugly road accident, Davido mourns

Houon Ange Didier popularly known by his stage name DJ Arafat has passed away after his involvement in an ugly auto crash that took place on Sunday,  August 11. According to the messages and pictures circulating on social media, he had been driving a motorbike and smashed into a car. The artist was critically injured and taken to a  hospital at Abidjan.  He succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 8 a.m the following morning.

Reacting to the unfortunate news, hundreds of internet users across the continent took to their respective social media platforms to mourn the untimely death of the celebrated music star. See tweets below:

 

Also reacting  to the news of DJ Arafat’s death, Nigerian singer David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, shared two posts on his Twitter. Davido in his first post had expressed disbelief at the news, saying ” Pls tell me it’s not true!!! Not my brother !!!! God why!!!!!.  

However, a second post from the singer suggested that he had accepted the unfortunate news, he tweets ”RIP YOROBO I LOVE YOU” He shared a photo in which they were both spotted together and prayed the deceased to rest in peace.

The Ivorian singer with a huge following in francophone Africa country,  and Davido once collaborated on a music single titled Naughty. He has also worked with singer J Martins on the hit single titled Touching Body. He won the Best Francophone Award at the 2015 MAMAs, and was nominated for Best African Act at the 2015 MTV EMA. He issued 11 albums, mainly of “coupe-decale” a dance music form combining choppy rhythms with hip hop style vocals.

Ivorian Culture Minister Maurice Kouakou Bandaman expressed his condolences and said a tribute would be organised to honor the musician.
