The police on Wednesday arraigned a 28-year-old fake estate agent, Sunday Michael, in a Chief Magistrates’ Court, Taiwo Road, Kaduna, for allegedly being in possession of 14 stolen Automated Teller Machine (ATMs).
Michael, is charged with criminal conspiracy, impersonation, being in possession of ATM cards suspected to be stolen.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Leo Chidi, told the court that Blessing James, who resides in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, reported the matter at the Barnawa Police Station on July 24.
Chidi alleged that the defendant and two others now at large, conspired and paraded themselves as housing agents.
He alleged that the defendant and his accomplice stole the complainant’s GT Bank ATM while she was negotiating a deal and attempted to use the car to withdraw some money with the ATM card, but was caught.
Chidi said that during police investigation, 14 different ATM cards were recovered from the defendant.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 59, 142, and 319 of Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.
After the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Emmanuel Ibrahim admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000, with one surety in like sum.
Ibrahim ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 20 for hearing.(NAN)
