Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo, has just been presented with an Icon Award, despite being in the news some weeks ago for assaulting a nursing mother.
The Senator had been caught on tape, slapping a young sales agent repeatedly before trying to force her out of a store in Abuja.
The incident soon caught the attention of many Nigerians online, leading to serious bashing and calls for the senator to step down from his post. Eventually, Abbo was invited by the police for questioning and prosecution for the crime.
But surprisingly, he was presented with an award by members of the inter-community awareness for change and development initiative in Abuja.
After receiving the award, the Senator then proceeded to state that he would use “the award as a machine to fight a common human enemy which is segregation, injustice, and poverty.
