Fani-Kayode reveals what he regrets about Obasanjo, Jonathan’s govts

2 Min Read

Former Aviation Minister said that former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan should have been as vicious in their treatment of the opposition as the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He stated this in a series of tweets on Friday while decrying Buhari’s alleged crackdown on the opposition and over-indulgence of the Miyetti Allah group and Fulani herdsmen.

According to Fani-Kayode, Obasanjo should have supported Yoruba militia group, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) like Buhari is supposedly supporting Miyetti Allah.

Also, he said that Obasanjo should have cracked down on the proponents of political sharia that thrived in Northern Nigeria under his administration.

Furthermore, he said that Jonathan should have been more ruthless in his treatment of Buhari and other opposition leaders during his administration.

Meanwhile, the controversial ex-minister also lambasted governors in the South West geopolitical zone for allegedly replying in a “weak, cowardly, meaningless and nonsensical” manner to calls by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) for Fulani herdsmen to quit any part of Southern Nigeria where their safety is not guaranteed.

A Friday statement by the governors read in part, “The country has a rich history; she has had to encounter adversities in the course of her transition to nationhood.

“She has overcome them all. This distraction will also pass. We look up to the security agencies to take cohesive steps to curtail this major challenge of insecurity which engenders hopelessness.

“We can only enjoin all citizens, on our part, to be patient and continue to cooperate with them as they combat the festering crises.
