A mild drama played out at the headquarters of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) on Monday morning when an Assistant Superintendent of Customs, Nura Dahiru, said he’s now the new Comptroller-General of Customs .
Dahiru, who had reported to office on Monday morning with the rank of DCG, walked straight to the office of the CG, Col. Hameed Alli, to take over the affairs of the service.
He was said to have insisted on acting on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to assume the office of Comptroller-General.
A source said, “Dahiru came in this morning wearing the rank of DCG and walked straight to the office of CG to take over the affairs from him.
“We were all surprised when he walked in with the rank. I think something must definitely be wrong with him because it looks like a joke taken too far.”
Reacting to the development, Customs Public Relation Officer, Joseph Attah, told one of our correspondents that medical personnel were invited to examine the mental state of Dahiru.
He said, “What happened was that an assistant superintendent of customs came to the office wearing the rank of a deputy comptroller-general.
“From questions and answers that followed, it was obvious he was not in the right frame of mind; so a doctor was immediately invited. He is presently undergoing medical examination at the medical unit of the service.”
