A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and former Representative, Uche Onyeagucha has stated that the party would not field a same religion ticket in the 2015 elections.
Onyeagucha who is also a Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said, “If we must carry our members along, there is just no way we would field a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket. It won’t happen because the party’s leaders are aware of the implications.
“We won’t even field a Christian-Christian ticket. Every member must be involved in picking those that would fly the party’s flag at the election and ensure we come out victorious.”
Speaking on some of the internal conflicts within the party, he said it was simply a phase that they would pass through unscathed.
He said, “What is happening is just a passing phase which we shall overcome. All members who came from the legacy parties to form the APC should realise that they must be able to accommodate members who came from other parties.
“You must make sacrifices for other parties, no matter how small they might be before we incorporated them into the APC.”
He added, “Positions from the state to the national levels must be shared equitably between members who came from other parties and the legacy parties like the Action Congress of Nigeria, Congress for Political Change, All Nigeria Peoples Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance.”
