A 39-year-old car repairer, Femi Amusan, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of a Honda Civic worth N2 million.
Amusan, who resides at No. 3, Folorunsho St., Off Adisa Bakare Bada, Ayobo, Lagos State, is facing a count charge of stealing, but he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Ishola Samuel, told the court that Amusan stole the car belonging to one Mrs Mojisola Oduwole sometime in March.
The prosecutor said that the defendant committed the offence on Gowon Estate in Egbeda, Lagos State.
Samuel submitted that Oduwole gave Amusan the car to sell for her, but he sold it and converted the proceeds to his own use, in contravention of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes three years imprisonment for stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs I.A. Abina, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Abina adjourned the case until June 25 for mention. (NAN)
