A young man from Niger state has blamed some unforeseen forces after he reportedly strangled his seven-month-old daughter to death.
The 30-year-old man, who has been identified as Nasiru Musa, is said to have carried out the inhuman act on May 30, 2019.
Reports revealed that on the said date, Musa just took the child from his wife – the mother, after she fell asleep.
He then carried her to a building under construction at a location close to their residence and upon getting there, he strangled her till she died.
His wife later began to cry out around the community after she realized her baby was nowhere to be found.
Eventually, the matter was reported to the Nasko Police Division where investigations were carried out.
Musa later confessed to killing his own little daughter and continued to question himself over what could have led him into such an act.
Expressing his bemusement, the suspect stated, “
“I gave birth to my daughter out of wedlock and the mother and I are preparing for our wedding before this happened. I cannot explain why I took her life. People will not believe me. It is like somebody hypnotized me I find it very difficult to explain. How am I going to explain to my fiancé what transpired? I know that is the end of (preparations for) the marriage. She will never forgive me and my friends will desert me.”
When quizzed about whether he intended to use the baby for rituals, Musa quickly rebuffed the question, saying, “God forbid. Magama people don’t use their children for rituals and that is why I cannot explain how I killed my own daughter.”
He is expected to be arraigned before a law court soon.
