Illegal occupation: Landlord seeks eviction of blind man, 9 others

An octogenarian, Engr. Muhammad Adamu, a resident of Kaduna metropolis has dragged 10 tenants, including a blind man to Sharia Court l sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, for illegally occupying his house for about three years without his consent.

Adamu told the court that he bought the house which is located on Benin street, Kaduna, about three years ago and left it empty.

“I don’t know all these people, they are living in the house which I bought, I want the court to help me evict them from the house.

“I have not collected a penny from them for all the years, I want to renovate my house,” Adamu pleaded with the court.

The defendants, Ahmed Babangida, Salisu Ashiru, Alhaji Audu, Bala Usman, Mubarak Usman, Usman Zakari, Zinatu Bilyaminu, Zainab Ahmad, Hajiya Basira and Austin Agazi, who is blind, accepted the charge against them.

They told the court that they were tenants in the house before it was bought by the complainant and had remained there without paying rent.

The Judge, Dahiru Lawal, in his judgement, ordered all the tenants to vacate the house within two weeks.

“He has been fair to all of you, he is not your landlord, this is a criminal trespass, you should all thank him for allowing you live in his house for about three years without paying a dime,” Lawal said. (NAN)
