The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Sen. Dino Melaye, has warned the Nigerian elite to beware of a “violent revolution” of the poor masses.
The controversial senator gave the warning in a tweet early Friday.
He said a class war could happen in Nigeria like it did in Russia, France and more recently in Sudan, if socio-economic conditions of the poor masses do not improve.
Melaye said that widening economic inequality in the country was evidenced in the segregation between the abode of the poor and rich and could eventually provoke the class war.
The senator stressed that the elite’s decision to stay in posh neighbourhoods such as Ikoyi, Banana Island, Maitama and Abuja puts members of the class in jeopardy.
Dino Melaye, “I am afraid of the revenge of the poor, It happened in Russia, France and recently in Sudan.
“It can happen in Nigeria. Housing segregation put us the elite in jeopardy. Ikoyi, Banana, Maitama, Asokoro etc. Our leaders + me beware of violent revolution. Perilous times loading.”
