The senator representing Bayelsa East, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, has said that Nigeria could attain and surpass the level achieved by Hollywood if needed investments were made into Nollywood.
Murray-Bruce stated this in a tweet on Tuesday while hailing the success recorded by American science-fiction movies, Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame.
The Marvel comics each grossed more than $1 billion in revenue.
Avengers: Endgame became the first film to earn more than $1 billion during its debut and is expected to surpass the $3 billion record created by Avatar in the global box office.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator that the movie industry could also become a money spinner for Nigeria.
Murray-Bruce said, “The over $1 billion made by movies like Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther justify my advocacy with ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan which made him invest billions in our entertainment industry.
“The Nollywood can bring in more money than oil brings, without damaging our environment.”
