The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Sen. Shehu Sani, has slammed some lawyers who allegedly rushed to the defence of Bauchi State-Governor elect, Bala Mohammed.
Mohammed is being arraigned on fresh six-count charges ordering on false declaration of assets and giving false information to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A group, the Body of Bauchi Lawyers of Conscience (BOBOLAC) said on Saturday that it hasd submitted 60 names of legal practitioners to defend the governor-elect.
According to Sani, the lawyers now making a show of supporting Mohammed did not show up when his case with the EFCC first commenced.
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) senator said, “When he was battling with his case with the anti corruption bodies for years,no lawyer offered him ProBono, now that he is Governor elect, hundreds have come forward to offer him free services.Sweetest from the Bar.”
