Former President Goodluck Jonathan has pleaded with his former aide, Reno Omokri to tone down his criticism of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Omokri, who was Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, disclosed this in a tweet on Monday.
The US-based pastor is a fierce critic of Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
In August 2017, while reacting to Buhari’s absence for months to treat an undisclosed ailment in London, Omokri mocked the president as setting a new “Guinness World Record”.
“Buhari has become the first elected president of a country to become resident of another nation while still in power,” Omokri said derisively.
But he disclosed on Monday that Jonathan urged him to show more “respect and kindness” to Buhari.
Omokri said, “I just don’t know how God created Goodluck Jonathan. I have never met a man, whether Pastor, Imam or Pope, with as much humility as former President Jonathan. He called me and appealed to me to show more respect and kindness to Muhammadu Buhari. Would Buhari do that to him or Obj or IBB?”
