Dad poisons son for bringing him misfortune

2 Min Read

A criminally minded father in Akwa Ibom has been nabbed by police officers after poisoning and killing his son.

The suspect, identified as Essien, connived with his young wife, Peace, to carry out the condemnable act.

They were said to have prepared the poisonous substance using one “Asene” seed, after which they compelled the twelve years old adolescent to drink it.

The couple then completed their inhuman act by taking his body to a swampy area and buried him there.

After being interrogated by police officers in the state, Essien complained that the young boy was a wizard and he had brought all forms of misfortunes to him in the past.

Hence, he carried out the act to put an end to his problems.

The commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, Zaki Ahmed, has now released a statement about the crime, adding that the suspects would be charged to court after police investigations have ended.

He said, “ On March 25, 2019, operatives of Oron division arrested one Essien Okon and Peace Okon of Edoho Emma Street, Oron Local Government Area, who conspired and lured their son, Joseph Okon, now deceased, whom they accused of witchcraft, into an engine boat on the pretext of going to cut bamboo sticks in a swamp to be used for construction of a kitchen.

“While at the swamp, the suspects removed a concoction, prepared with poisonous seed called asene and water; they used enema and pumped the concoction into the deceased’s stomach, leading to his instant death. The suspects secretly dug a shallow grave in the swamp and buried the deceased there.”
