Atiku Reacts To Abuja Posters Describing Him As “Genuine, Real” President

2 Min Read

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has distanced himself from posters circulating in Abuja in which he was described as the “genuine, real” president.

The posters, which were sighted principally in Central Business District, Abuja, bore weird inscriptions, including the Hindu word ‘Pukka’, which translates to ‘Genuine’ or ‘Real’.

The presidency had described the emergence of the posters as “treason”.

However, in a Wednesday statement signed by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, the former Vice President said that he had nothing to do with the emergence of the posters, adding that he was rather focused on the recovery of his “stolen mandate”.

The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to posters of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election being circulated in Abuja.

“We disassociate the former Vice President of Nigeria from the said posters in circulation.

“The campaign season is over. The tainted electoral victory by the incumbent is being challenged in court.

“We refuse to be distracted, which is exactly the objective of our opponents but to remain focused on diligently pursuing our election petition with a view to retrieving the stolen mandate.”
