The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Sen. Shehu Sani, has decried the rate at which returnees from Libya are returning to the North African nation.
He disclosed this in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday.
Sani further lamented Nigeria’s failure to set up an effective mechanism to rehabilitate, reintegrate and empower the returnees.
The senator called for the setting up of a presidential committee comprising National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Department of State Services (DSS), and National Directorate Of Employment (NDE) to address the matter.
He said, “The Country has no effective mechanism for rehabilitating, reintegrating and empowering Nigerian Migrants returned from Libya.
“They find their way back to Libya whenever they are brought home.A Presidential Committee comprising NAPTIP, NEMA,NIS, DSS, NDE is urgently needed.
