The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 9 gubernatorial election in Lagos, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has not left the party.
Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode disclosed this via a tweet on Wednesday after reports circulated that Agbaje had quit the party.
An online newspaper Western Post Nigeria said that Agbaje announced his decision to quit the party in a statement.
”I have tried to remain focused and ignore all the distractions coming from the leadership of the party. I am making the decision after due consultations with my supporters and loved ones for the sake of peace,” Agbaje was quoted as saying.
But in a tweet, Fani-Kayode said that Agbaje denied quitting the PDP in a private conversation.
He added that former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel also denied joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said, “I just received a call from my brother Jimi Agbaje. He assured me that he has NOT left PDP and that the media reports were false.
“My brother Gbenga Daniel also reached me and assured me that though he has left PDP he has NOT joined APC. Thank you Jesus!”
