Olawale Abisoye and Micheal Ohanu scored a goal each for MFM in the encounter as the table-toppers ganared 21 points from 10 games played so far to tighten their grip at the top of the league table.
The result means Insurance with only nine points from 10 games have now failed to record a win in their last five games in the 2018/19 NPFL season.
Enyimba stayed in second position after they held their hosts Sunshine Stars to a goalless draw at the Akure Sports Stadium.
The Peoples Elephant with 16 points from 11 games are now yet to concede a goal in their last five games in the NPFL, while the Akure-based club side with 13 points from nine games are third on the log.
At the Pantami Stadium, Wikki Tourists edged out Rivers United 2-0 through goals from Abba Umar and Isa Gata.
The result saw the Bauchi-based club side with 12 points from 10 games leapfrog from 11th to the 6th position of the NPFL 12-team Group A log.
Rivers United who are level on the same number of points and game played with Sunshine Stars albeit with an inferior goal difference slipped one spot down to the fourth position on the log.
10-man Kastina United defeated Kwara United 2-0 at the Mohamammadu Dikko Stadium.
Martins Usule scored the winning goal in the 13th minute.
Destiny Ashadi missed a penalty after the break, while the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Chinedu Ajana was sent off for an unsporting behaviour in the 65th minute.
The result saw Katsina United also with 13 points from nine games move five places up the log from 10th to fifth, while Kwara United with 12 points from 10 games, slipped from the fifth to seventh position on the log.

Akwa United with 19 points from 11 games moved to second position following a 2-1 away win against Heartland FC of Imo at the Okigwe Township Stadium.
Ndifreke Effiong opened scoring for Akwa United in the fourth minute after a neat pass by Mfon Udoh to record his fifth goal of the campaign.
Chijoke Ajoku equalised for Heartland three minutes before the half hour mark, while Udoh scored the winner in the 72nd minute.
Akwa United are now unbeaten in their last seven games in the NPFL, while Heartland with 14 points from 11 games maintained their seventh spot on the log.
In Maiduguri, hosts El-Kanemi Warriors were held to a goalless draw by Gombe United.
El-Kanemi Warriors tied on the same number of points and game played with Akwa United albeit with an inferior goal difference dropped to third spot, while Gombe United still in the drop zone moved a step up to the 11th spot on the log.
At the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia Warriors and Plateau United battled to a 1-1 draw.
Oche Salefu gave the visitors the lead in the 51st minute, while Obi Samson levelled scores for the home team in the 67th minute.
The result saw Abia Warriors with 12 points from 10 games move a step up from 10th to 9th while former champions Plateau United with 12 points from 11 games also moved a step up from 11th to the 10th position.
Yobe Desert Stars ended a run of six games without a win edging out Go Round 2-0 in Damaturu.
Philip Auta scored both goals in the eight and 57th minutes to give Yobe Stars who are still languishing in the drop zone some aiota of hope as they have now managed to ganer a total of 10 points from 10 games played so far.
