“A truck bringing farmers and their harvest of cucumber from nearby irrigation fields exploded when it went over a landmine just outside the town of Addamari, some 20 kilometres from Maiduguri,” a member of vigilante group stated.
“Five people were killed and 20 were injured by the explosion. The truck was returning from the fields on the outskirts of the town around 12.40pm when it went over the mine planted in the middle of the road,” he added.
Also speaking on the incident, another resident of Addamari, Modu Abu, said the explosive might have been planted by the Boko Haram terrorist group.
