Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje has described those that questioned President Muhammadu Buhari’s votes in Kano as unserious people.
Ganduje made this known while speaking with journalists shortly after paying a congratulatory visit to President Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Recall that figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that Buhari garnered 1,464,768 votes, compared to his closest challenger, Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who scored 391,593.
Seventeen out of the 44 local governments in Kano were affected by election cancellation, although reports of violence were minimal.
However, some commentators have questioned the figures from the state, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of manipulating the figures.
But reacting to the comments, Ganduje said, “First of all, they are not serious people, they are people who are anti-democracy.
“If you have seen how the elections were conducted I think everybody will agree that INEC tried very well. Even though there was low turnout of voters because we were expecting to get much more than that, but the election was fair and free.
“Those who say we couldn’t have got that much are ignorant of the politics of Kano.”
