The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has won five out of the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) election.

The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has won five out of the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) election.

This was revealed by council collation officers who separately presented the results to Prof. Muhammed Liman, Collation Officer, Presidential, FCT, also Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University.

The area councils won by Atiku are Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada,Kuje and Kwali.

The result also showed that President Muhammadu Buhari, Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who took an early lead in the results of three Area Councils collated on Feb.24, only won Abaji area council.

“APC won in Abaji with 12,847 while PDP got 9,369; in Gwagwalada, PDP won with 25,175 votes while APC got 24,363 votes.

“In Kwali, PDP won with 16,455 votes while APC got 15,505 votes while in Bwari PDP won with 52,015 and APC got 22,115.

“ PDP won in Kuje with 23,805 votes while APC got 16, 743, likewise, in AMAC, PDP won with 133,178 while APC got 60,647 votes,’’ Liman said.

Liman explained that overall results showed that the PDP candidate scored 259,997 votes while Buhari, the APC’s candidate, garnered 152,224 votes in the election.

He said the exercise was very successful and peaceful except for one party that refused to accept the overall results based on claims that some things did not go well at the ward level.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that while the PDP party agent with all other parties signed the result, the APC agent refused to sign it.

The presidential collation officer in the FCT said the agent’s refusal was based on the claim of allegations that some of their supporters were disenfranchised and not based on manipulation of the votes. (NAN)
