Popular Nollywood actor, Babatunde Omidina, whose stage name is “Baba Suwe” is currently battling an undisclosed ailment, and has begun to seek for financial assistance from other actors.
During a show on Lagelu FM in Ibadan, Baba Suwe was asked to explain his current health challenges. Almost moved to tears, he narrated, “I had just returned from America while I was on phone speaking to my family that I had landed, I fainted and that was it, I spent close to three weeks at the hospital and till now I’m not better’.
Some years ago, he had a stint with NDLEA officials at the Murtala International Airport. He was accused of carrying banned substances with a plan to smuggle it out of the country. Although Baba Suwe was kept under serious surveillance, while investigations were carried out, NDLEA eventually found nothing incriminating on him.
He subsequently filed a law suit against them and won N25 million Naira damages fine. However, he explained that NDLEA never made the payment.
While expressing his sadness over the recent deterioration in Baba Suwe’s health, another Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, said, ‘Baba Suwe is an entertainer, he is consistent for more than 2 decades. He paved the way for me to come into the movie industry, featured me first in a movie, fed me, gave me accommodation, gave me a platform, ride me in his car, learned MC hussle from him etc HE IS AN ICON, LEGEND and a game changer. I will stand by you no matter what. A child will fight, defend and protect his or her father solicited or unsolicited. I will never be an ingrate. Get well soon’.
