Following Monday’s bombing of Nyanya bus station in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has announced to provide better security for motor parks, markets and other public places in the nation’s capital.
The plan was announced by Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday when he visited the scene of the bombing that killed over 70 persons and injured hundreds.
The minister, who cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Abuja, also visited the Asokoro District Hospital to empathise with the several blast survivors receiving treatment there.
Apart from promising that FCT administration would offset the medical bills, including feeding of the injured, Mohammed said it would install special gadgets to detect metal or explosive devices on the high-capacity buses plying Abuja roads.
“The FCT Administration will meet with security agencies to exploit ways of providing additional security for motor parks, markets and other public places in the Federal Capital Territory”, he said.
The minister directed the FCT Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretariat, Ademola Onakomaiya, to approve immediate referral of any serious case to government or private specialist hospitals and the bills underwritten by the FCT Administration.
Also commiserating with those who lost their loved ones in the incident, Mohammed condemned the attack as wicked and heartless.
