Higuain Branded A Mecenary After Chelsea Move

2 Min Read

Following his recent move to Chelsea, Argentine striker, Gonzalo Higuain has been called out as a mercenary by Italy’s interior minister Matteo Salvini.

The striker moved from Napoli to Juventus and was on loan at AC Milan before moving to Chelsea for the next 6 months which could then be extended.

The striker was deemed surplus to requirements after the Italian Champions purchased Cristiano Ronaldo and wasn’t exactly making waves in Milan before the January window.

Milan have since signed Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek as Higuain’s replacement on a four-year deal.

“I’m glad that Higuain has gone and I hope we’ll never see him again in Milan because he really behaved in an unworthy manner.” Salvini said on RTL Radio

“I like Piatek very much, plus he has an EU passport!”

This isn’t the first time the Italian politician had come after the Argentine as he also seriously criticised him after he got a red card against Juventus in the league.

Not all is gloomy for Higuain as he’s been backed to succeed at Chelsea by his fellow Argentine, Willy Caballero

“It doesn’t matter what he did in the past with other teams,” the backup keeper said to Goal. “He can help Willian, [Olivier] Giroud, Eden [Hazard] or whoever plays beside him.

“He plays to a great level of performance.

“I know him very well, but the rest of the team needs more time to do it. We are going to find great performances with him in our team in the future. He can do everything.”
