Nigerians have taken to social media to express diverse opinions on the visit of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to Washington DC, United States on Thursday.
Atiku, who was visiting the US for the first time since 2004, was in the company of Senate President Bukola Saraki, the senator representing Bayelsa East senatorial district, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce and other PDP bigwigs.
In a message he personally tweeted after landing on US soil, Atiku said, “Just arrived Washington D.C for meeting with US government officials, Nigerians living in D.C metropolis and the business community.”

Apart from the obvious psychological boost to his campaign and supporters, are there other electoral gains to be accrued from Atiku's visit to the United States that I am not aware of?
— Nicholas Ibekwe (@nicholasibekwe) January 18, 2019
Yes it does. Particularly undecided voters who sees the "Atiku cannot enter US" as a stain. Now with that "stain" taken away, it will result in desiveness on their part.
Again, the base will be more re-energized and regiged to work harder and reach out to more electotae. B gd. https://t.co/iuYaqMfOaS

#AtikuInAmerica is a wonderful development for @Atiku, however, once the Presidential election is over and he loses, his waiver expires and he won't be able to visit again… He might as well make the most of it while he's here…

You know the funny thing?
It was APC that made @Atiku’s supposed inability to travel to the US a campaign issue.
You people should focus on issues. You refused.
Now just look at. 😂😂😂
