CJN’s Prosecution: God Has Departed From This Govt – Fayose

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen

The immediate-past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has come down hard on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government over the imminent prosecution of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen for alleged non-declaration of assets and money laundering.

According to Fayose, the plan to prosecute the CJN constitutes a sign that the present administration is “sinking” and God has departed from it.

Fayose, who is equally facing charges of fraud and abuse of office, reacted to the CJN’s plight in a series of tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday morning.

He said, “The speed with which the petition against the CJN was acted up clearly exposed the sinister intention of the Presidency. How is it explainable for a petition to be written on January 7, received by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on January 9 and charges made against the CJN on January 11?

“Those the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad. This sinking government taking on CJN is desperation taken too far. From Amina Zakari to the illegal plot to extend the IGP tenure and now assault on the CJN, it is obvious that God has departed from this government as He left the Biblical Saul.”
