Chelsea fourth hard in the match against Newcastle on Saturday to secure a vital three points. The host took an early lead through Pedro and were in control of the match for most parts. However, Newcastle defender, Ciaran Clark, surprisingly leveled things up just before the break.
The game stayed level for a long period, much to the annoyance of the fans. Chelsea players then began to press harder for another goal in the dying minutes.
They launched attacks after attacks in a bid to not repeat their recent poor runs while at home in the league. Just when it mattered most, Willian scored the winner through a perfectly curled shot.
It’s now five wins out of seven matches for Chelsea. With a game ahead, they are just one point away from Tottenham in the 3rd position.
Chelsea may have won the match but their coach, Sarri, was not so impressed with the result. This is likely because Chelsea ought to have done better against a Newcastle team that currently sits in the bottom three of the EPL table.
While speaking with newsmen, Sarri said, “We started well for 10 minutes but after the goal, we thought ‘now it is easy’, but it wasn’t.
“We slept for 25 minutes and then we were in trouble. We were better in the second half but we need to improve the mental reaction.
“It is very difficult to understand. We stopped playing and then we had problems.”
Sarri then explained that he has informed the Chelsea board members that there is a need to find a replacement for Cesc Fabregas who recently signed for Monaco.
“Jorginho was in trouble and on the bench there wasn’t a player for that position. I need an option for that position.
“The club knows very well my opinion. It depends on the club decision. I cannot do anything more,” he explained.
