Emery hopes Arsenal will Sign New Players In January

2 Min Read

Arsenal’s manager, Unai Emery has said that he is hopeful that Arsenal have new players before the end of the January transfer window. Although, he denied the rumours that Arsenal are planning to sign Barcelona mid-fielder, Denis Suarez.

While addressing newsmen, Emery said,  “Maybe the transfer market can help us with a centre-back, but it is not easy because also Mavropanos is coming back after injury. Also a winger, right or left, one player can help us in this position.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal defeated Blackpool by three goals to nil on Saturday’s FA Cup match.

They could not field Laurent Koscielny due to back pain in the build-up to the match but Emery explained that there was no cause for alarm.

He said, “I hope he’s going to be OK for the next matches.”

Arsenal fielded just four of their players that played the premier league match against Fulham, earlier in the week. However, the match was an easy win for the Gunners. 19 years old Joe Willock scored a brace before Alex Iwobi put the match beyond reach for Blackpool by scoring a goal as well.

After the match, Emery mentioned, “We need players with commitment. We need players who are prepared for when the team needs them and they can step up.

“Opportunities are coming in matches like today. We mixed experienced players in the squad with some young players like Joe, Eddie and Ainsley.

“It was a good combination. They can show us they are progressing with the team and, most importantly, they showed their passion.”
