How FG Forced My Columns Out Of Nigerian Media Houses – Fani-Kayode

2 Min Read

Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has disclosed how the Federal Government forced some Nigerian media organisations against publishing his columns and airing his interviews.

The controversial ex-minister made the disclosure while reacting to claims by US-based Nigerian academic, Dr Farooq Kperogi that the Federal Government forced Daily Trust to close his popular political commentary column, “Notes From Atlanta” in the paper.

The 45-year-old Kperogi is an Associate Professor of Journalism and Emerging Media Kennesaw State University, Georgia, USA.

Kperogi writes two columns, “Politics of Grammar” and “Notes from Atlanta”, for the Abuja-based Daily Trust weekend editions.

Fani-Kayode said, “Dr Farooq Kperogi’s column was closed in Daily Trust due to pressure from the FG? Welcome to the club! I had my columns closed in The Sun, PremiumTimes , Naij.com, Telegraph and others long ago. They also ordered the TV networks not to air ANY of my interviews!

“Ours is a nervous, cowardly government that is terrified of the truth and of those that have the courage to speak it! They forget that when God raises a voice for the voiceless it cannot be silenced. Never forget that I am not PART of the resistance: I AM the resistance.”
