Presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has revealed that he was absent from the peace pact signing because he wasn’t invited.
Over 30 Presidential candidates from various parties congregated to sign as peace pact pledging to keep the peace during the elections.
According to theCable, Paul Ibe, Atiku’s spokesman, claimed that the former APC member did not receive an invite for the program
“His Excellency did not get any invitation for the programme. I have spoke with him and I can confirm he wasn’t invited,” said Ibe who spoke to TheCable

The chairman of the National Peace Committee Abdulsalami Abubakar was asked whether Atiku’s absence was a problem for the pact, to which he said: “How will it? One candidate? I don’t think it will weaken the accord.”
Oby Ezekwesili and Donald Duke were also absent from the even and when asked about this Abdulsalami got defensive and asked: “Are you accusing the peace committee of working for the President? So if you are not accusing us, as far as we are concerned, every party was invited and you can see the number of people that came.”
The PDP have said that Atiku will sign the document at a later date
According to the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, he said Atiku will sign
“It is instructive to state that our Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the party are fully committed to a peaceful electoral process and elections in 2019.” he said
