Robert Mugabe Unable to Walk as Old Age Catches Up with ex-President

The saying that nature humbles even the strongest human being could not be truer than in the case of the immediate past President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe.

Police Arrest 34 IPOB Members Over Murder of Police Officer

94 year old year old Mugabe was president of Zimbabwe for 37 years before being toppled by the military and members of his own party, the ZANU-PF one year ago.

The new President, Emmerson Mnangagwa announced on Saturday that the ex-president was now unable to walk due to ill health and old age and had been flown to Singapore for medical attention.

The President told his ZANU-PF party supporters during a rally that the 94-year-old Mugabe had been receiving medical care in Singapore for the last two months. He said;

“He (Mugabe) is now old. Of course, he now is unable to walk but whatever he asks for we will provide. We are looking after him. He is the founding father of the nation of Zimbabwe. He is our founding father of free Zimbabwe.”

Mnangagwa however said Robert Mugabe was expected back in Zimbabwe at the end of this month.

“He should have been back on October 25 but his health was not yet good. But yesterday we got a message that he thinks he is getting better. He will come back on 30 November.”

News about Mugabe’s failing health comes a year after he was toppled from his position as President having occupied it for thirty-seven years.

Prior to his removal, Mugabe had shown no signs of relinquishing power despite being advanced in age.

There had been speculations that his young wife, Grace Mugabe had been scheming to take over power before being outsmarted by Zimbabwe’s Generals who removed her husband.
