The police on Wednesday brought Taye Eniola before a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing his neighbour’s phones worth N22,500.
Eniola, who resides in Kugbo, Abuja, is facing a charge of theft and he pleaded not guilty.
The police prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, told the court that Michael Ajayi, a neighbour of the defendant, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station, Abuja, on Oct. 24 around 11:a.m.
Osuji said that Ajayi alleged that when he woke up on same date at about 5:a.m., he discovered that the defendant had stolen his two phones, valued at N22, 500.
He said that the complainant claimed that the accused stole one Itel phone and a Nokia phone, valued at N19,000 and N3,500 respectively, from him.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Sani Mohammed, granted the accused bail in the sum of N23, 000, with one surety in like sum, and later adjourned the case until Nov. 30 for hearing. (NAN)
