The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has berated some of the nation’s service chiefs for attending the flag-off of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term campaign.
According to The Punch, the service chiefs spotted at the campaign were Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar; and Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.
Reacting, Sani, a Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) senator, said the presence of the service chiefs was a “bad signal”.
Taking to his verified Twitter handle, the vocal senator, who did not mention names, said, “The neutrality and fairness of the defence and security organs of the state is absolutely necessary to the goal of free, fair and credible elections; Defense and security chiefs attending campaign flag of one candidate is an outright violation of this ideal principle and a bad signal.”
