Sale of National Assets to Fund Budget is Irresponsible – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has disclosed how he was subjected to a search by security agents at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after arriving from a trip from Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Sunday morning.

The former Vice President made this known in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle.

According to him, the search was nothing less than an attempt to intimidate him by the security agencies acting on orders from the presidency.

The Waziri of Adamawa stressed that he would remain committed to building a Nigeria free of intimidation of citizens by security agents.

Recall that while in Dubai, Atiku had conveyed a strategic meeting of the PDP, which the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had urged the Federal Government to probe.

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yekini Nabena, had said,  “There is more to the meeting that meets the eye. Nigeria has enough meeting/conference rooms, many of which meet international standards.

“It is therefore clear that the Dubai meeting was for other sinister political purposes ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“Our intelligence, anti-graft and security agencies must be awake to its responsibility of investigating the Dubai meeting.”

Reacting to the search on Atiku, a PDP chieftain and former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode said, “The attempt to intimidate Atiku with security agents at the airport after his arrival in Abuja this morning is utterly shameful and I totally condemn it.

“It is the desperate act of a vicious, cowardly, weak, paranoid, dying and failed government who know that their time is over.”
