Former Arsenal and Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner has been sentenced to jail for 50 days in jail, over an assault case
His case is still pending appeal and he left the Copenhagen city courtroom a free man– for now.
The former Arsenal starlet who now plays for Norwegian club side Rosenborg, appealed against the sentence and was released until the hearing in a higher court.
“We think that it’s not good for the club and not good for Nicklas, but he remains a player in the club. We are keeping him,” said Rosenborg’s chief executive Tove Moe Dyrhaug.

The 30-year-old was caught on a surveillance video appearing to strike a driver in the face and kick him due to a disagreement over the way the driver was supposed to drive .
Bendtner conceded that he hit the Taxi Driver in the face, but maintained that he only did so because he was in fear for his life and that the driver threw a bottle towards him and his girlfriend when they decided to not pay for the service.
Bendtner’s stock as a footballer has fallen dramatically over the years. Long gone are the days when he claimed to be the ‘Greatest Striker that Ever Lived’, and now, the striker was left out of Denmark’s World Cup campaign earlier this year.
Before then, Bendtner made 81 international appearances, scoring 30 goals
